GTX 780 NEWS

NVIDIA will launch it a new flagship GeForce model with Kepler GK110 GPU — the GTX 780. Also the site is claiming that the release might take place even sooner than VR-Zone reported this week. The new GTX 780 would arrive later this year, or more likely, during the first months of 2013 – so this could be March too.

While the Tesla K20 GK110 had 7.1 billion transistors, its not believed that the GeForce card would feature the same specificaiton. The GK110 is both difficult and expensive to manufacture.
As a reminder the GK110 has 15 Streaming Multiprocessors with 2880 CUDA cores. The Tesla’s GPU was linked to a 384-bit interface.  So this might be changed in multiple ways. Most probably NVIDIA will reduce the number of processing units or manipulate the Raster Engine layout.– powered by updated Graphics Core Next architecture.

Nvidia returns $1 billion to shareholders

Nvidia told investors earlier at its annual analysts' day that it expects its Tegra mobile processor business to remain flat this year. They recovered after the buyback news, and were down just 0.5 percent at $12.77 in the afternoon.
Co-founder and CEO Jen-Hsun Huang said he expects Nvidia's mobile processor business to remain flat this year as the company focuses on upcoming chips with high-speed LTE technology attractive to smartphone makers.
As consumers increasingly choose tablets and smartphones over personal computers, Nvidia, with a market capitalization of about $8 billion, has been looking for ways to diversify beyond its core business of designing graphics chips for PCs.
Huang told investors his company has sacrificed some sales of its Tegra mobile chips in the near term in order to focus on integrating Long Term Evolution (LTE) features on upcoming versions, making them compatible with high-end carrier networks.
Combined with a slumping PC industry, that strategy is putting pressure on Nvidia in the first half of 2013, Huang told analysts at a conference.
"We're confident that as we go into the second half, growth will return," he said. "How do we feel about the Tegra business? … This year Tegra will be about flat."
Nvidia will return the cash to shareholders this fiscal year via previously announced dividends - about $50 million a quarter - and additional share buybacks. The $1 billion also includes $100 million in share buybacks this quarter.by noel randewich

Nvidia Planning New corporate headquarters in Santa Clara.

NVIDIA has announced that it is planning on building a new corporate headquarters in Santa Clara.
Jen-Hsun Huang, the company’s CEO, says the current headquarters is “bursting at the seams” with employees, and “barely has a spare desk.”

NVIDIA’s new campus will be in the shape of a triangle, a shape that is the building block of NVIDIA’s business – computer graphics.

“The design harmonizes smart functionality and a shape that connects with and inspires our employees,” Mr. Huang said in a Wednesday blog post. “Efficient in every way, the design is thoughtful in its use of space, energy, and environment, and, of course, cost.”

“It will stand at the intersection of science and art, just as our work in visual computing does. It will be the symbol, the physical manifestation, of our vision for the company.”
Each building will be 500,000 square feet. The first building is expected to be occupied mid-2015, and the second will be build when growth requires it.sam reynolds

Nvidia’s 2,688 shader GeForce GTX Titan graphics card

Nvidia GeForce GTX

The Nvidia GeForce GTX 690 is a hard card to beat.in most benchmarks its currently the best performing graphics card on the market, due to its inclusion of two Kepler GPUs. Nvidia isn’t happy relying on the GTX 690 as its top performing card for too much longer, though, as the next graphics card it is set to launch has just leaked.

The new graphics card carries the name GeForce GTX Titan, will be marketed as the “world’s most powerful graphics card,” and is expected to launch at some point between February 18 and 26. What may surprise you is the fact Nvidia has managed to come close to outperforming the GTX 690, but using just a single Kepler GPU.

The GPU being used is the 28nm GK110, which has been clocked at 875MHz and boasts 2,688 CUDA cores. There’s also 6GB of GDDR5 RAM using a 384-bit bus, and the expected TDP is thought to be in excess of 235W. Two versions of the Titan are expected from ASUS and EVGA, with the ASUS card thought to be clocked even higher at 915MHz. For comparison, the GTX 690 had 4GB RAM and 3,072 shaders.

Nvidia Gtx 600 Series And Rumored Specs

As you already know that in September 2010, Nvidia’s CEO Jen-Hsun Huang introduced us to a CUDA GPU Roadmap that laid out his future plans. As of this moment, they (whole team) are working very hard to process Nvidia GTX 600 Series for the big mass.

So, here are some key features of Kepler (code name for rumoured GTX 600 series) cards:

•TSMC 28 nm fabrication technology
•It is theoretically 2 to 3 times faster than current graphics cards based on Fermi architecture (codename) by Nvidia.
•512-bit bus processing.
•DirectX 11.1
•Open GL 5.0 or may be upgraded to this version later.
•1024 CUDA cores
•Release date – November 2011

The features listed above are very close to the real deal and most of them are already officially announced by Nvidia. Now, to sum up this conversation, I would like add few points.

· GTX 600 series cards are supposed to run cooler than Fermi because of smaller die.

· Double CUDA cores will make processes faster than ever that use CUDA cores for calculations. Most common applications include video transcoding and image rendering.

· Open GL is now supported by most image and video rendering softwares, like Photoshop, an enhanced version of OpenGL will make working with high definition images faster and more precise.

· Although, DirectX 11.1 is basically Microsoft Windows feature, but we can not exclude the possibility of a GTX 600 card supporting it already.

· I have witnessed enhanced graphics when I moved from Windows Vista Direct X 10 to Windows 7 DirectX 11 and I am sure others have experienced the same.

· However, moving from DX 11.0 to DX 11.1 may not be that exciting. Even then, it will clear the way for the most awaited release of DirectX 12.0.

· Nvidia GTX 600 cards will be facing a direct competition with AMD’s Southern Islands (codename) graphics card which are also based on 28nm architecture and supposed to be released earlier than GTX 600.

· The release date Nvidia GTX 600 series is not that much clear but if you surf online and gather some information, you will come to know that it might be released in the fourth quarter of 2011 or by first quarter of 2012.

Future Plans of Nvidia for Maxwell Graphics card

· There is no information about Maxwell cards on the web right now that could add some value to this discussion and since Maxwell graphics cards are being developed by the green graphics card giant within its deep layers (Crysis 2 metaphor), we may not see it for an entire year or two.

· As for this moment, I can safely tell you that Maxwell graphics card are supposed to be 8 times better than Tesla, 7.5 times better than Fermi and 2.6 times better than Kepler (as a quick math would suggest).
