Disney Fantasy Cruise Ship Introduces Cutting-Edge Video Game Technology
Goofy’s Sports Simulator takes gaming a step beyond anything on Kinect. In this game, passengers use real footballs, basketballs, baseballs and even hockey pucks to interact with a video game Goofy and other Disney classic characters.
Walt Disney Imagineers had an extra year to develop new experiences for the Disney Fantasy, including a cool new interactive show inside the Animator’s Palette dining room. On top of interacting with Crush and the cast of Finding Nemo in one show, the seven night cruise also includes a second show. Passengers draw their own character and at the end of dinner they see it interact with Disney animated characters from a variety of movies.
The Muppets play a big role in the new Fantasy ship. The movie is playing in the Buena Vista Theater, which features 3D Disney movies as well. Imagineers created a longer interactive experience starring Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy and the rest of the gang. The Disney Fantasy also has the two shorter games featured on the Disney Magic, which cruises for three or four night excursions. The Muppets game sends players around the ship on a scavenger hunt featuring magic paintings, which use motion-sensor and facial capture technology to allow for mini-game experiences. The 90 minute adventure features a mystery that will change with each playthrough.
